Abstract

Requirements prioritization is applied to identify which artifacts must be implemented first, in order to create a product that best satisfies the customer’s need by using the smallest number of resources. However, the task of prioritizing requirements is challenging and complex, and there is no well-defined set of mechanisms that help this activity. This article aims at identifying and analyzing the mechanisms to support the requirements prioritization. So, a systematic map-ping review was conducted. The result is a report that presents the different types of publications (journals, conference papers, thesis, book chapters), the published year, the supporting mechanisms, the phases of the requirements engineering pro-cess, and the prioritization techniques and tools used. It was observed that the prioritization requirements field is quite needy of mechanisms and tools that sup-port this activity, mainly that ones that provide visual resources.
