Abstract

The twenty-seventh edition of the Workshop on Requirements Engineering (WER 2024), hosted at Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 7th to 9th, 2024, brought together researchers and practitioners from across academia and industry. Over three vibrant days, discussions spanned key themes such as usability, transparency, data protection, natural language processing, sustainability, accessibility, technical debt, and security requirements. This year, 32 articles were presented as full papers. Following a thorough review by at least three committee members per submission. The event featured seven tracks: Research, Industry, Master's and Doctoral, Software Requirements Tools, Journal First, Tutorials, and a new Student Poster Track. Distinguished keynote speakers included Fabiano Dalplaz from Utrecht University, Alejandro Oliveros from the National University of Tres de Febrero, and Jorge Ceballos from the University of Belgrano, each offering unique insights into cutting-edge challenges in Requirements Engineering. Two hands-on tutorials were also delivered, covering Natural Language Processing and Design Thinking approaches to requirements elicitation. A strong industry presence was felt through dedicated sessions addressing real-world challenges, including AI in newsrooms and data privacy. WER 2024’s success was made possible by the commitment of a diverse international committee, contributing authors, track chairs, tutorial leaders, and enthusiastic participants. Special recognition goes to the organizing institutions — Universidad Nacional del Oeste, Universidad Abierta Interamericana, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, and Universidad de Belgrano — for their unwavering support and coordination.
